100% Grenache (early 1970s) from basalt soils at Neck de Sceautres at 300 metres, “the plot has a hill on one side, and another hill on the other side, so it loses sun for 90 minutes in the morning, and 90 minutes in the evening, meaning it ripens very gradually, and always has acidity”, whole bunch macération carbonique 3 week fibre glass vat vinification, no interventions at all, wild yeasts, steel vat raised 8 months, unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2, first year 2014, 4,000 b

NV (2018)

purple-red colour; the nose is firm, carries a red fruit aroma, bonbon sweets, raspberry coulis – it’s not yet fully arranged. The palate is also very live, has a jaunty start, presents good streams of red berry fruits with kick and life in the tannins late on. There is real wine on its inside. This is good, upbeat wine with a serene layer of filling, a good mix. It’s more serious than fun-filled, so brings interest to the table, is STGT wine. There are mineral, rock stones on the end, real iron fissure moments there. “Come and seek this around 2021-22,” Sylvain Bock. This is 2/3 of the Neck Grenache, the remaining 1/3 going into Les Grelots 2018. 2026-27 May 2019

2015

red robe, some mauve; has a firm, filled bouquet that gives a sturdy essence of red fruit, musk-floral notes, animal, grilling. It’s not straightforward. The palate is close-knit, bears good cool fruit, the tannins noticeable, lying a bit on the outside. This has the inner strength of 2015, gathers depth from within at the end. From spring 2020. 13°.
