100% Viognier (mid-1980s, 2010) from rising sun exposed clay-limestone soils at Mirabel, 50% steel vat, 50% 4 year 228-litre oak cask fermented, raised 8-9 months, oak-vat assembled 30 days before bottling, malo completed, 2,000-3,600 b

2019 ()

(cask, 2.5 gm of sugar still to ferment) pale yellow robe; the bouquet is restrained, on pear fruit, licorice, smokiness. The palate gives bright fruit before the arrival of more grip, firmness, ends well, no loose bits. This is well directed Viognier, good and genuine, not overdone. Only 2,000 b this year due to the drought. 2023 Feb 2020


(vat/casks, bottling June 2019) fine yellow robe; the nose shows reduction, pear fruit, vanilla form the oak, a note of asparagus also. This is butty, close-knit, a bit locked-up, though has foundation (fond). There’s unfinished business here, though the finish is round and rather charming. It’s not quite all as one along the palate, but is very decent. From late 2019. 2024 Feb 2019
