70% Syrah (clay-limestone S of Ardèche), 20% Merlot (on schist 45 km to S-W of domaine, near the start of the Cévennes mountains), 10% Gamay (on schist 45 km to S-W of domaine, near the start of the Cévennes mountains), Syrah destemmed by hand, then 2 week vinification with 3-4 pumping overs, Merlot & Gamay vinified by macération carbonique, vat raised 6-7 months, unfined, unfiltered, zero added SO2, 10,000 b

level red colour; there’s a bright fruit debut on the nose, blackberry featuring. It’s a nose with good energy, brambly fruit, is full of beans. The palate comes in a stream, a direct run, has restricted width, is a peppery wine, a lot of dentelle in it. The tannins are a bit searching at the end, thought the fruit within is sound. There’s a touch of perlant in this, its stability tested by poor storage or bad travel, no doubt. It’s OK, just. Bottling April 2019. 2021-22 Feb 2019
