100% Grenache (late 1980s) from steep slope of stony limestone soils at Margelet, destemmed, 30 day steel vat vinification, cap moistened with a bucket once a day, 60% vat, 40% used 600-litre oak cask raised 17 months, unfined, unfiltered, zero added SO2

2016 ()

red robe, with a good hue, brightness. The bouquet has a knot of plum at its centre, with a damp soil, somewhat fungal undertone that isn’t displeasing. There are touches of strawberry around the edges, floral hints. The palate has a trim, savoury nature with a fine powder-grain texture and mixed herbs, smoky tang towards the finish, which is rocky. It’s a wine of character, some intricacy, holds some sweetness both on nose and palate. The palate can expand, enrichen with air, and the length is secure. 13.5°. 2023-24 Oct 2020
