Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre & the other 9 varieties from sandy, limestone, also clay-silt soils, mostly destemmed, 2-3 week concrete vat vinification, twice daily pumping overs, aged 85% vat, 15% large oak barrel 18 months, unfined, filtered, “drink with red meats, meat terrine, cheese”

2016

shiny dark red; the bouquet has a little intrigue, blackberry and blueberry fruit with a licorice, slightly smoky siding. The palate is serenely presented, a smooth run all through, carries elegant body, lasts well, the structure good, a take-up of ripe tannin adding depth. This has a good heartbeat, and shows the mix of depth and freshness of the vintage. There are black olive notes on the finish. 14.5°. From 2022. 2039-41 Oct 2019

2015

plum red colour. The nose is softly fruited with airs of strawberry jam, cherry, has a rather husky aspect, isn’t totally clear. The palate is spiced, delivers red fruited flavour, but again, there is a drying, clouded aspect as it nears the finish. The aftertaste is on black raisin, just a bit vacant. This is in transition, and may be more resolved around mid-2019. 2027-28 Oct 2017
