medium to full purple hue. There is a refined cherry aspect on the nose, which is elegant and polished in style. This is smooth and opulent on the palate, with generous fruit and filigree tannins that are present on the finish. An attractive and harmonious wine. 14.5°. From 2016. 80% Gren, 15% Syr, 5% Mourv, 2,000 b. Harvested 10-15 October. 2026-27  JL Oct 2014

NOT PRODUCED ON ITS OWN - this was eventually blended into the classic Domaine Barville red ***(*) quite dark red. Smoky, pine-oak air with crunchy black fruit behind. A bouquet just starting out en route. There are fine waves of precise, clear black fruit with discreet oaking along the way. Has the potential to be rather classy, and appealing – there is a good whole and harmony here. A touch of spirit is discernible on its late moments. The ending is rather dark. 14.5°. 2026-27  Dec 2012

healthy shine in the red robe. Mulberry and spice debut on the nose, good, flinty, oily qualities – a full palette of bounty, a true Child of the South, is Grenache-centric. The first impression on the palate is its rich, oily texture and fluid gras. The flavour of dark fruits is followed by incense, smoke, tar notes. It holds together well, the final clarity, menthol, very typical of 2010’s qualities. Lot of potential and longevity. Its balance is so good that the odd bottle could be drunk now, but it will be more glorious in 2018, for instance. Has very good, juiced length. 14.5°. 2031-33  Oct 2013  Previously Dec 2011 *** mild hue to the dark red, not a bright sheen. Has a hunky aroma that is wide and abrupt, and features bosky, pine and tar influences. The palate is also on an oaked, stern level for now. It holds cooked up fruit which is not as one with the oak. The two roads may liaise if left until 2016-17. Mainstream sort of wine. Has a chocolate-charcoal, raisin finish, and I don't feel there has been the need for such cellar work this year. 2028-30 Nov 2011

full robe; intense, nearly dense nose – it already suggest you sip, don`t drink this wine – the aroma is coated and full, shows some oak. The palate is rich, broad and continuous, holds pretty, florally-infused plum fruit that runs all though. There are mild tannins. Its oak will gain ground as it ages – it is only half way through its raising now. A full, modern wine that ends dryly for now thanks to its oak. From 2012. 2021-23. 100% destemmed. Nov 2008

mid-depth red; restrained fruit on the nose – it is enveloped, scaled-up, not open, although there is some cocoa in the air. Upright, gangly youth time fro this – it has definite sinew, with the oak driving it along and dominating the flavour and its profile, There is some tight richness within. The oak is OTT – over the top – it ends on oak and power. From 2011 and cross fingers. 2019-21. 100% destemmed. Nov 2008 Previously Dec 2006 *(*) quite a dark red; nougat-marzipan nose with kirsch surrounds – a weighty do. Red fruits that are tightly packed on the attack with an oak and nut ring around it. Modern, clean vinification style of wine, rather an oenologue magic formula production. Not at all a terroir wine now. Try from 2010. Not my cup of tea like this. Fair length. 2020-22 Dec 2006

full, maturing red robe; the bouquet shows some softness – a mature plum, red jam, which is sympa and reveals sweet spices. Has a gentle, redcurrant debut, gaining clarity as it travels, its nature settled. It ends on more robust, chewy elements, with raisin in the taste, indeed the finish is a bit sudden and dry. It is OK now, but needs food to harmonise the finish. Whole bunch fermentation – the stems and the oak sono troppo per il vino, methinks. Drink with country foods, lots of flavour in them. 13.5°. 2014-16 Nov 2008
