The Wines

50% Grenache (mid-1980s), 50% Syrah (2007) from sandy, rolled pebble terraces next to the Ouvèze River at Séguret, destemmed, 3 week vinification, cap punching, raised resin vat on fine lees 7 months, unfined, filtered, first wine 2008, 3,500 b

dark, nice full red. Has a sweetly-aired nose that holds brooding black fruit, smoke, is terrestrial, gummy. Very willing palate, offers enjoyable blackberry fruit, has juice in it; late on shows some tannin, lciorice grip there. It is all about immediate fruit with good matter backing it. Clear, rather fresh snap on the finish. Best with food, to take into account the pebbly notes at the end. Summer time, grilled foods, is a drinkable, w.o.w. wine. 14.5°. To 2014. July 2011
