83% Grenache (mid-1920s-1950s) from marl, clay-limestone soils at Bédoin (S-W of Mont Ventoux) and sandy-limestone soils at Villes sur Auzon (S), 15% Syrah, 2% Mourvèdre destemmed, 20 day concrete vat vinification of varieties together, 3-4 part vat emptying/refillings, pumping overs, concrete vat raised 6-10 months, several bottlings, unfined, unfiltered, 20,000 b

bright red; zappy nose that combines redcurrant jelly and pepper, exactly what one wants from Ventoux. The palate: off it goes, real sympa drinking, fresh and breezy. Primo w.o.w. wine. Has loose, agile red fruit that ends on a little tannin that controls it well. “Bottling has tightened its finish,” Guillaume Gonnet. 14°. To 2015-16. Nov 2011 Previously April 2011 *** good, full and bright red; Has a post vat, just out of the vat, nutty air with pretty clarity, black raisin and cherry – an overtly modern take. The palate sets off well, offers nice consecutive red berry fruit. The balance is sound, and this lengthens well. Can be drunk solo, this is good value, and a w.o.w. wine. It spreads well on the finish, where there is some heat and also some herbs. 14°. To 2013. April 2011
