50% Grenache, 45% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, destemmed, plots vinified separately, 4-5 week vinification, pumping overs, 1 part vat emptying/refilling, vat raised 8-10 months, fined, unfiltered

2016 ()

very dark robe, very Syrah. Reduction shows markedly on the nose, with a plump aroma of black cherry, blackberry; it breathes sunshine, fat. This is a gourmand affair, carries a bountiful black cherry fruiting with an aromatic tone to it. The tannins are tuneful, add a rounded layer of depth. This is savoury, ample wine with some freshness towards the finish. It has 2016 strength embedded, so drink with red meats, game, and it will also be better in cool rather than hot weather. Decant it or allow two hours of air due to the reduction. 14.5°. 2023-25 July 2017

2006 ()

floating, elegant black jam aroma; Jaunty palate – very good pure fruit, with character, has life and depth, while being elegant as well. Well balanced, a w.o.w. wine. Good length, shows a tickle of late tannin. To 2011. 55% Grenache, 45% Syrah this year because the Cinsault crop was “banal”. March 2007

1997 ()

the colour is quite dense, just turning towards matt. Has a raw, soaked cassis fruit bouquet, a lot of offer from it, sweetness, a bit of leather – it comes out very well. The attack presents a lot of quite fleshy fruit on the attack, then just straightens a touch, the length decent – the early momentum takes it right along. There is good, sappy fruit and flavour here, notably blackcurrant. This is delicious, tasty right now. 2005-06 Feb 2001
