shiny yellow robe; oak toasting and smoke front up the nose, with a hint of roast nuts, ginger within. The fruit is on the low side. The palate holds white fruits with oak never far away, a toffee presence, therefore, and a more sticky tone than desirable. It needs less oaking, but there is a low-key tone of freshness within, and the finish is rounded, on white fruits. Less oak from spring 2021 = a good thing. The oak quality is decent, but there’s too much of it for the content, 13.5°. 3,600 b. 60% Vio, 25% Gren bl, 15% Clair bl. €11.50 at the domaine. 2023-24 Oct 2020

pale yellow; pear, gunflint, apricot airs, with garrigue, aniseed local touches. This has good heart, is table wine, comes with a cosy richness, is nice and unforced in style. It holds well, shows some dried fruits on the close, a note of late tannin. It’s genuine, traditional. “It will be good with white meats, curry, choucroute, morel mushrooms,” Anaïs Vallot. 14°. 3,500 b. 60% Vio, 25% Gren bl, 15% Clair bl. 2025-26 Feb 2020

shiny, medium depth yellow. Oak-toast-pineapple airs, peanut – the nose has bite. The palate is a bit cooked, singed. Has a flavour of apple tart, a sweeter note at the end. A little edgy. The oak needs to infuse. For now, it has potential style, thanks to Northern Rhône influences. I can see improvement over time. From spring 2013. 13.5°. €7.52 export. To 2017  Oct 2012

Vinsobres Côtes du Rhône Villages: yellow-apricot colour; the nose presents coconut and banana airs, melted brown sugar, is a little oxidative. It is full, mature on the palate, right on the button for a second phase and drunk with cooked fish in sauce. The length is fair – it combines a burnt feel with some gras richness, has a coconut flavour. Its quiet elegance is inspired by the cool climate of Vinsobres. Drink now to 2007. Dec 2005
