clear red robe; smoke, bacon fat, mulberry, wild berry aroma, cherry stone there as well – it’s a varied bouquet. The palate is firm, enclosed, has kummel, eau de vie tones, a cherry stone flavour. It’s rather baked in the 2017 vein, won’t be approachable for a long time, thus. It finishes on notably firm tannins. It’s tricky to handle, requires robust dishes with it. “I lost 40% harvest this year”, Philippe Gimel. 14.5°. 19,000 b. From 2023-24, decant it. mainly dark red in colour; there are smoky, cordite fuse airs on the nose, which has a crunchy, vegetal snap, shows plum notably, some raspberry in the fruit stakes. The palate continues with a cool-menthol nature, ends full of running. This has good drive, is very appealing, with subtleties on board. It will develop based on structure and freshness, is a Thinker’s Wine. 14.5°. 2029-30 Feb 2019

2015 ()

clear red colour. Has a smoky, red-fruited nose, nice brambly fruit airs. The palate strikes out well, runs with gusto, energy, flourishes on a concentrate of raspberry, a good vibe. It has the depth for beef, for example, bright tannins with good clip in them. The finish is firm. This is still en route. 14.5°. 25,000 b. Bottled end June 2017. 2009 ()

bottled two weeks ago: firm, dark red; blackberry jam aroma, with a slight, good depth of licorice within, spice and black cherry, raspberry, with heavier airs of black chocolate in behind. The palate is sturdy, nicely textured, smooth and full at the same time. It finishes freshly, on notes of cocoa. A full, throaty roar sort of wine which bears black fruits and shows some heat towards the end, with a glowing aftertaste. Tannic power walls line its sides. It has been just bottled, so leave and give it time – from 2013. 15°. 2018-19. €5.60 export price. 9,000 b this year – 2008 was 15,000 b. May 2012
