scarlet with a peach note on the robe. The nose rustles along discreetly, has a candy, crushed strawberry aroma with a neat curve of sweetness, an understated depth about it. The palate is wide on the attack, gets into its stride right away, is smoothly textured, has a red berry fruits flavour, engages well, with a little tannic tone of tightness towards the finish, which is also marked by a firm stream of red juice. It’s suited to steamed fish, scallops, precise flavours, and can serve for the aperitif with its easy, loose style. 13°. 2023-24 June 2020

jolly, attractive red robe; the bouquet is serene, measured, portrays a neat line of strawberry fruit, with a little sweetness, near coulis, and floral imprint. The palate is squelchy, supple, on small red fruits with a plump style all through. It’s easy to drink if serve well chilled, can pair with chicken dishes, noodles and steamed foods, will go down well with drinkers, a safe bet. 13°. To late-2020  May 2019

attractive, inviting red-toned robe. This is pretty full on the bouquet, gives vivid and intense red fruits that are a touch “high”, so on reduction, a coulis of red berries in its depth. It’s wide and rather imposing. The palate presents a good, full abundance of red fruits, redcurrants with a dash of lime cordial freshness. This holds good liveliness, and ends crisply. It is upbeat Tavel that is true to its place; there’s delicious red fruit, wild strawberries. The mid-late palate holds excellent fruit and carry. There is a nice savoury touch as it finishes, and the length is striking. 13°. To 2020 Aug 2018

red, brightly tinted robe with coral traces. The nose wells up and out on good depth of redcurrant fruit with a splash of strawberry, a jig of salt, rubbed thyme. It’s stylish. This is tasty and juicy, holds plump gras and gives a flavour of strawberry. It achieves a cool finish and clarity on the aftertaste, has the weight-mass for white meats, poultry, cold poached salmon, and brings in a notion of garrigue herbs on the finish. It’s very enjoyable, true, STGT Tavel from this excellent vintage, really persists. 13.5°. 5,000 b. 2019-20 July 2017

2015

cherry red hue to the robe. The bouquet has a singed aspect, a roasted side that is out of line with the other Tavels of 2015. It seems rather exerted, with a glossy side, an air of kummel, the stones of red fruits on display. The palate is also robust, just about keeps its power under control. The issue is the strength of the wine, which prevails over its precision. There are flashes of red fruit, kirsch, along the palate. Drink with full flavours. 13.5°. 5,000 b. 60% Gren, 40% Cins. €4.70. To 2018  May 2016

pink with red tints; the nose combines fruit and a garrigue and herbs inspired freshness, the cherry stone fruit assertive. The palate bears compact, crisp red cherry fruit, has a knuckle of tight grip and a small spot of gras on the finish. Pretty true Tavel. There is a definite after glow from its degree. Very much for food such as white meats, bold flavours. 14°. 50% Gren, 40% Cins, 10% Clairette. 13.5°. To 2017  Jun 2015
