Syrah (1930s) from 0.5 hectare of sanded granite soils on Aubert at St Jean de Muzols, rented vineyard, harvested over 1 week, each time to bring freshness, 3-week whole bunch steel vat vinification, wild yeasts, twice daily pumping overs, cap punchings, aged new 300-litre oak casks (1 or two of them) 18 months, unfined, unfiltered, “this may be issued on its own, away from the regular Aubert”, max 800 b

2019 ()

(new 300-litre cask) quite a dark red; floral-raspberry airs feature in a graceful bouquet. The palate is spinal and interesting, holds back well, carries real naked truth, Burgundian finesse, is super pointu, detailed, will be STGT wine after 7-8 years. 22 years. This will be around €60, against the €35 of the regular Aubert. Feb 2020
