dark, full red. The nose is well filled with nicely brewed black fruits, a note of iodine; it has a calm depth and assurance, is a touch reduced from the Syrah. The palate sequels well from the nose, holds nicely ample content, smooth tannins fitting closely – testament to the old vines’ quality. There’s a pocket of late spice to boost the finish. It’s broad and homely on the palate, leaves a lip-smack aftertaste. There is good heart here – it’s a nicely thorough, unforced Villages, with a Redondo shape. The flavour lasts agreeably. 14°. 2,000 b. 60% Gren, 30% Syr, 8% Mourv, 2% Cins, Cari. €6. To 2021 Aug 2017

decent red robe; this has a mixed herbs aroma, with a “clack” of clarity, and a salted zone in with its coulis of black berry fruit. The nose is local and pretty much there already. The palate is supple, the plum fruit soft and the tannins likewise. Agreeable, unfussy drinking now. It is just a trifle limited, but not every wine has to be a superstar – this is a good result for 2013. Pumping overs & part vat emptying/refilling this year. 13.5°.  To 2017-18  Apr 2015
