85-90% Syrah, 10-15% Grenache from poor clay-limestone soils, machine harvested, destemmed, 3 week concrete vat vinification at up to 30-33°C, daily pumping overs, concrete vat raised 6 months, "drink with marinaded grilled pork, duck with olives"
dark, lustrous red robe. Has a ripe blackberry, black cherry, oily styled aroma, prominent Syrah, with a damp earth, “high” aspect from reduction. It has inner southern sweetness, shows licorice also. It needs decanting. The palate attacks on rather thick but fluid juice, fleshy content, has a tasty, gourmand style before straightening into a minted second half, freshness there. There is attractive pepper within. The fruit quality is round and enjoyable. Good with lamb cutlets, sausages. Licorice and blueberry feature on the aftertaste, which is inviting, clean, and encourages another sip. 14°. 2020-21 Sept 2017
