shiny dark red robe; the bouquet has an aroma of well seasoned plum fruit, a jam-like thickness to it, with undertones of red berry. It’s just emerging. The palate is also young, bears a cosy red fruited content, with a gradual pick-up of tannins that are well judged, nicely ripe, and add a curve to its late moments. This is a correctly elegant Châteauneuf, nice and calm, with good juice along the second half. Its tannins defy the vintage’s occasional thrust of dryness from the drought conditions, and its savoury close works well.
