sound red robe; the bouquet is well-filled, just under wraps still, has a brothy, cooked red fruits aroma, a sense of herbes de Provence, an oiliness of the south. The palate is marked by its Grenache, cooked plums flavour, with liberal spicing, white pepper present along its path. It’s a compact, stubby wine for now, and time will help it to lengthen. The finish is on grainy, tight tannins. 14.5°. From 2021. Decant it. 2032-34 Mar 2019

2016

full red robe; the bouquet carries intrigue, aided by its waft of musky flowers, sweet spicing as well, mulberry fruit coulis the prime prompt beyond. The palate links well, via its serene hand out of supple content, tasty red fruits along its path. This is cosy, charming Cairanne that carries the elegance of its place, has been well worked to express that in such a large vintage. I like its harmony, and its Grenache character. 15°. 6,650 b. 80% Gren, 20% Syr. 2034-36 Mar 2019

dark purple robe. The bouquet is reduced, has an inner meatiness, a vein of cooked back stone fruits, is bold and broad. The palate starts on sturdy dark content, and continues in that vein all through. This is a tarry, forceful wine which delivers a bustling, brooding matter and live tannins. Take your time. It is up for game stews, big flavours. It isn’t quite an extracted wine, but comes with some of that feel. 14.5°. 80% Gren, 20% Syr. Harvested 5-7 Sept 2015. From 2019. 2027-28 May 2016
