100% Syrah (mid-1980s) from gravel, limestone with clay soils at 350 metres on the plateau of Montbrison, whole bunch fermentation, a small crush, a 6 month steel vat maceration, then raised used 228-litre oak casks 6 months, unfined, unfiltered, no SO2, made in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, “it’s to best express the terroir, and avoid the climate effect being too great on the Syrah; the stems change the form of the wine”, 2,000 b

2018

(casks) dark red. The nose is discreet, cassis fruit central to it, with rosemary, licorice. It can coax out good variety over time. The palate offers refined fruit, clear delivery, is a rather northern take for a Syrah from the south. Pure fruit is delivered carefully. The finish is fine, nice and calm. This has good potential, is a superior southern Rhône Syrah. From mid-2021. 2032-34 Feb 2019

2016

dark red. The nose is mighty, on beef stock, red fruits liqueur, cherries. The palate links well to the nose, delivers a sturdy start, real punch, drive, with a velvet outer, the texture silken.
