50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre (vines late 1970s) from old glacier-alluvial soils, destemmed, 3 week vinification, pumping overs, raised large oak barrel 15 months, unfined, filtered


advancing red robe with a ruby top. The nose is smoky, runs with black fruits, black pepper, menthol, raspberry also. The palate gives spicy, Damson cooked plums, has a menthol impact, tobacco. The finish is chunky, grounded: this is a wine with some warm lands assertion, is up for red meats, stews. It has a nicely wild side, a bit out of control. It gives interest, down to the slight dry vintage tang on the aftertaste. It needs food. 14°. To 2021 Nov 2017
