The Wines

100% Pinot noir (2001) from 1 hectare on quite deep, fresh clay-limestone soils, semi-carbonic vinification, whole bunches, wild yeasts, 8-10 days, pumping over every 2 days by gravity, wild yeasts, concrete vat raised 3-6 months, unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2, “drink with grills”

this is **** given its price of €8.80: the robe is a fine red. Serene red fruit, pepper, red berry, and a strawberry emphasis appear on the nose. There’s a nice run of red fruit with a touch of tannin either side on the palate. It gains well, and the second half amplifies well, spreading out after the direct attack. It’s rather floral, is joli, with a notably tasty core to it. This is w.o.w. wine. “It can keep; it was bottled in Dec 2018, instead of March 2019 because it was already stable,” Christophe Comte. 11.5°. 2021-22 May 2019
