The Wines

100% Viognier (1989-1991) from slightly stony clay-limestone soils, steel vat fermented, wild yeasts, steel vat raised 7-8 months, malo completed, no added SO2, 6,000 b

(bottling in 10 days) yellow robe; has an accentuated pear, pear skin aroma, wax-beeswax, greengage plum, nuts behind. It’s a sturdy start with good variety. The palate is also firm, bears compact gras richness, plenty in the glass, the flavour going zig-zag around the palate. This has the body to be a good wine for la table. After a saline second half, there’s a touch of tannic thrust on the finish. This has character, nice strength, is de la terre, grounded wine. It can live until 2025-26 May 2019
