dark plum red robe. Smoke, tar, licorice, crisp blackberry fruit that has a seared aspect show on the nose, which is rather taut. The palate holds black berry fruit with spearmint, a grainy presence. The fruit backs off on the finish. This is workmanlike – there are many more interesting Côtes du Rhônes; it feels more machine than hand made, with a lack of real fat. There is licorice on the aftertaste, but it’s spare there. There is a sharpness in this – not pleasing. 13.5°. 80% Gren, 20% Syr. 50,000 b. To mid-2018 Jan 2017
