red robe. There’s a note of cigarette ash on the nose, a plum fruited main aroma; it has fair, not great heart, shows some oak toffee. The palate is New Wave, pared back, with a streamlined red cherry, stone fruit presence. The finish is chewy, only giving a little juice there. This I find a challenging wine, low on pleasure. I’m not sure how fully ripe the crop was, and there may also have been too much of it. 14.5°. 4,000 b. Bottled March 2017. €45 at the cellars. 2028-29 Mar 2018
