Grenache, Syrah (mid-1980s-mid 1990s) from crumbled tone on sandy clay soils, destemmed, 2-3 week vinification, pumping overs, vat raised 9-12 months


red robe with a little depth. This has a very primary, just out of the vat and off the lees aroma, which has a grapey-smoky raspberry centre, comes with airs of dried herbs, lead pencil. The palate is bright and breezy, channels its red berry fruit directly, with a hint of gras, and a pocket of smooth texture towards the finish. The aftertaste is click-clacky, has cut, ends with licorice notes and some dustiness. It is chiselled and may be more rounded and less sparked up after another six to nine months. It is a bit Spartan just now. 14°. From spring 2017. 2020-21  June 2016
