2017 ()

(vat) dark red; blackberry, with trim floral airs on the nose, has a neat, sweet curve to it. The palate bears an oily imprint, has a smooth flow of rather well charged content, leading into a decisive, still upright close. This persists well, the length producing a minted note of clarity, with a compact gras on the aftertaste. It’s hiding now, but will open well over time. 14°. 8,000 b. 55% Gren, 45% Syrah. From 2021. 2033-35 Mar 2019

2016 ()

(vat) dark red robe, a little crimson on the rim. The nose features loganberry and damson plum fruit, with an inky, intense quality about it, notes of damp tea leaves and their mineral sideline. The palate is grainy, unrefined, gives moments of fluid, rich content, carries a marked menthol kick which extends into the finish, where oak shows through as a distraction. There is concentration in its juicing, and the tannins have life, assertion. 14°. 8,400 b.  From 2021. 53% Gren, 42% Syr, 5% Cari. 2036-38 Mar 2019

2014 ()

fair red robe; blackberry, hedge berry fruit aromas, with a slight prune, mulberry and leather angle. The palate centres on spiced Grenache plum fruit, has a savoury, peppery second half. Traditional style here – it is a little less fresh than some. Its pepperiness is a little indication of the crop not being completely ripe perhaps. It is a bit uneven as it stands, but may develop. 60% Gren, 30% Syr, 10% Carignan. From spring 2016. 2019-20  April 2015

2013 ()

quite a dark red; sweet tea, floral hints on the nose, a note of bubble gum even. There is prune, dark berry fruit and licorice in the background. The palate carries safe berry fruit, and arrives at a sound enough finish. It is just a bit tame. It drinks now, although could have more late palate stuffing. 9,000 b. 2018-19  April 2015

2012

(vat) full red; stewed Victoria plums air that is leavened with garrigue herbs, a likeable and slightly sweet tone to it. The cooked fruit on the palate resembles the nose, a largely Grenache nature with a traditional, grounded approach, has a red stone fruit squeeze in it. Authentic, not a pristine school wine. Drink with country foods, pies, stews. From spring 2014. 13.9°. 51% Gren, 30% Syr, 19% Cari, 10,000 b this year. €8.37 ex cellars. 2017-18  Oct 2013

2008

full, black tints in the robe. Fresh, floating blackberry and peppery nose that is nice and bright, is aromatic and very inviting. Supple, mature Grenache, textured along the palate, runs softly. It ends on some damp, saline notes. w.o.w. wine. To 2013. Nov 2009
