85-90% Grenache (from Camaret Plan de Dieu), 7% Carignan, 3% Mourvèdre (both from Violès), whole bunch, 3-4 week vinification, part vat emptying/refillings, then some pumping overs, cap punchings, concrete vat raised 8-9 months, unfined, unfiltered, 16,000 b


shiny, full robe. The nose has an assured raspberry, wee liqueur air – it is stylish, has dusty herbs in it, smoke – this is good and local. The palate is spiced and wholesome, holds tasty fruit, is varied by its thyme, aniseed, hot outcrops notes, with tobacco influences. Great with locally seasoned Provençal dishes – navarin of lamb, shallots, blettes, rosemary, garlic. There is a menthol tang on the aftertaste. STGT wine that shows the progress made in the Côtes du Rhône bracket, since it retains local appeal, along with clear fruit and drinkable features. Lots of character. dark robe; raisin jam, grape jelly aroma that is sweet and round. The palate shows a wine of gourmandise, bearing a pleasing fat, one that sustains well, continues well. Its richness is pretty – this is a real pleaser, with likeable, classy tannins. Great CHR wine – w.o.w all the way. Very beau fruit, and good value at €4.60 at the cellar door. Entrecote steak with an echalotte sauce, or meat in a mushroom sauce – pastas, you name it. Bottle June 2008. 2011-12. Nov 2008
