50-80% Cabernet Sauvignon (2001) from sandy, gravel alluvial soils at Goules next to the Rhône, 20-50% Syrah (1987, slopes) from Saint-Péray, granite soils, 0.95 hectare, destemmed, 2-3 week vinification of varieties together, pumping overs, some cap punching, raised 30-50% vat, 50-70% 3-10 year 228 and 600-litre oak casks 9-12 months, fined, filtered, first wine 2004, has been Vin de Table, “with the Cabernet in it, this shows well over days once opened, and even after 2-3 hours’ opening,” 4-8,000 b

NV in March 2011 (2009)

NV tasted in March 2011, bottled Dec 2010, effectively is the 2009 vintage *** dark robe. Genuine, full cassis air with sweet inner notes. Plenty on offer on the palate, has a good black fruit core that runs into a crisp line of tannin. It moves across the palate firmly, persists well, is very respectable. €6 at the domaine – good value. 4,000 b this year, small crop. To 2018. March 2011

NV in Dec 2009 (2007)

NV tasted in Dec 2009, bottled Jan 2009, effectively is the 2007 vintage *** dark tints in robe; soft red fruits with licorice snap in the bouquet. Has an easy to drink attack, nice juicy fruit, tastes of blackberry. There is a line of tar in the flavour. A pocket of late tannin and oak comes along – this is a wine with structure. The juicy fruit revives at the end. Clear drinking, w.o.w. wine. 12.5°. 2011-12. 30% vat raising this year. Dec 2009

NV in Dec 2008

fair depth of red in the colour; has a fresh style, black cherry fruit nose that is smoky, and quite wide and full. The palate black fruit is low-key; there is a little game in the flavour, and it ends on a smoky, licorice tang, with some stalkiness. Drink now to 2010. Dec 2008

NV in Dec 2007

full, quite dark robe; has a black cherry, slightly spiced nose that is led by black pepper. It holds pretty fruit – has charm, life and fleshy appeal, is good for its category. The flavour is mostly berries. The length is correct, and it ends on prune, violet notes. Very drinkable. €6. Dec 2007


(vat/casks, bottling Jan 2020) dark, inky colour. Lots of open fruit, cassis, with mulberry, is soaked in style, on the nose, with light oak, nutshells, also. The palate has a supple debut, is very fleshy, and on tasty, easy offer styling, fills the glass well, ends on a little grain crunch. The attack is exuberant, before it becomes more close-knit. Good with a rib of beef. It has serious depth. “It’s not always evident to put the Cab with Syrah, but this has worked well; the Cab isn’t too vegetal. With the Cabernet in it, this shows well over days once opened, and even after 2-3 hours’ opening,” Fabrice Gripa. From mid-2020, but people won’t wait that long.
