2017

attractive red robe; the nose scoops up the garrigue with mixed herbs airs, red meat notes, closeted red fruits, some baking that is typical of the vintage. The palate hits its stride well; cherry stone, red cherry feature with firm tannins well inside. It holds well on the close. There’s a slight husky note to this, a bit downhome, hmm. The finish is moving into shape, cohesion. 14.5°. 2029-30 Feb 2020

2016

dark red; clear, inviting nose with cards to play, a good mass of red berry central, smoke and mixed herbs. The palate is broaf, well filled – there’s plenty here, it lengthens well, has sturdy late moments, ground strength, is a good, genuine, thorough STGT wine, clearer and superior to 2017. 15°. From 2022. 2039-41 Feb 2020

quite a dark red robe. The nose has an aroma of close-packed red fruit with open spicing. There’s licorice, grainy touches, some power notes. The palate holds liqueur fruit, is full bodied, comes with a dash of freshness on the final moments. This is a grounded wine, with inner muscle, breathes local warm lands strength. This is genuine. Decant it. 14.5°. 30,000 b. 65% Gren, 30% Syr, 5% Mourv. From mid-2019. 2026-27 Feb 2018

2014

dark red colour. The bouquet leads with a gentle blackberry, but has depth beyond that, shows some mixed herbs. The palate swings along well, centred on wavy black fruits, berries, and a clear run of crisp, enjoyable tannin that fits in neatly. This sustains very well and finishes with good life, the fruit lapping its shores well. There is a very good spark of clarity here. 14°. 15,000 b. €8.50 export.  65% Gren, 30% Syr, 5% Mourv. From 2017. 2022-23 Feb 2016

full red robe; dark aroma that bears chocolate, raisin, intrinsic push. The has a soupy black fruits that are stewed in nature. It wends its way, and I would like it to be more alert, snappy. The length is OK. Decant this to wake it up. Hands-off vinification demands the decanting. To 2013. March 2009

2005

(cask/vat sample) dark aromas, cocoa, chocolate with some herbs. Dense interior to the palate, fruit is gummy today. Plenty of stuffing here, its fruit is blackberry at this moment. Sound length, the finale is clear in the true Vinsobres style. 2016-18 April 2006

2004

black hints in robe; coffee, brewed style of bouquet, plenty in it - some prune fruit, damp and hung meat, violet. Red fruits on start of palate, the attack is solid. Quiet mid-palate. Leathery, mineral, medicine style end, pepper and licorice aftertaste. Interesting wine with nice punch and sound core richness. From 2008. 2013-15 April 2006

2003

(vat) fair depth on bouquet. Sound weight on palate, tannins are well set. Decent - its 14.5° doesn't show over much. Dec 2003

cool, cooked black fruits aroma with a light touch. Light on palate also - stone fruits, mid-weight wine. Easy to drink. Some licorice on finish. It's just getting on a bit. To 2005. Dec 2003
