65% Grenache (1970s), 25% Carignan (1948-1950), both from Côtes du Rhône vineyards at Sarrians, 10% Syrah (1980, 1995 from Vacqueyras), total five plots, Grenache, Carignan 70% destemmed, Syrah destemmed, 18 day vinification of varieties together, pumping overs, can do cap punching, some part vat emptying/refilling, concrete vat raised 6-10 months, unfined, filtered, “I work the vineyard so the varieties ripen together, notably the Carignan earlier than usual”, 5,000 b

2014

dark red, violet tints. There is a reductive outer air, an aroma of thick coulis of blackberry beyond that, sweet herbs. The bouquet has a calm presence. The palate presents licorice and black fruits, comes with good heart. This feels hand made, holds a soft content of black stone fruits, a certain gusto as it goes, ending on blueberry and blackberry. It stands up well in the glass, is a serious wine. 14°. 2021-22 July 2016

purple, agreeable robe; blackberry jam aroma, wisps of garrigue herbs, stones. Really nice palate – this is grand. Good ball of red berry fruit with a slightly frosted exterior from some light, dusty tannins. Tasty and interesting. Ends freshly, the length is good. A natural wine, one with character. €9 at the cellar door, very good value. 14°. To 2016. July 2010
