2016

yellow colour with a little pear in its hue. The nose has an aroma of crushed white fruits with a “high” leaning, damp wool, pear prominent. There’s an acetate note on the palate, wax and oiliness, is substantial, grapey, destined for la table. It lacks refinement, especially on the finish. There is peach in the flavour, a note of aniseed. 13°. To 2020 Apr 2018

2009

marked yellow robe; white plum, greengage nose, honey and white raisin present. Tightly clad wine: the outside is rather refined, silken, but inside it is powerful and still resistant – not yet unfurled. A meaty sort of wine, needs decanting. Lots of ripeness of crop sought here. From spring 2011. 14°. To 2016. July 2010

2007 ()

off yellow colour; the nose is like ripe Viognier – abundant pear, baked sugar fruit tart, vanilla. The palate is sturdy, with a final point of power and alcohol – the power rather detached, veering towards eau de vie. There is hazelnut in the late flavour. The fruit is taut, and not up to handling its power – so it ends up disjointed. 13.5°. Dec 2008

2005 ()

firm yellow; salty, a little mineral aroma – has a burnt note, isn’t very clean, although there’s quite a lot in the bouquet. Dried fruits start, then a peachy aftertaste. Finishes cleanly on the palate, with some Marsanne bitterness. Something of a power wine – more round and open from mid-2007. To 2011. Dec 2006
