2017

very full robe; the bouquet gives a leading front of deep blackberry, a note of prune, deep sunshine in behind. The palate is broad, fuelled with deep content but carries tannins which are dry, and demanding. I find this rather exerted, and therefore graceless, a victim of the vintage. From 2021. 2032-33 Oct 2018

2016 ()

(casks, bottling Dec 2017) shiny dark red. The nose leads on black cherry, cassis liqueur fruit, is curvy and pretty pure, has sweet oak attached. The palate wells up on a strong blackberry coulis flavour with a little spark in the tannins. This is a busily fruited Gigondas, gets close up and personal. It has a flashy style, and needs until mid-2019 to settle down, absorb oak and start to loosen up in a good way. 13.5°. 5,000 b. 80% Gren, 10% Syr, 10% Mourv. €15. 2027-29 Oct 2017

2014 ()

red robe; pine, oak first air, liqueur cassis beyond. The nose has a seared side to it. The palate bears cherry fruit, has a cassis finish, with pine present. It isn’t fully together, lacks balance, is thin. 13.5°. 5,000 b. €14.50. To 2019  Dec 2015

2013

(casks) paler purple-garnet colour. Hint of cassis bud on the nose but also a definite leafy, herbaceous edge. The palate is fluid and a little drying. Oak has been used to fill the hole, but it doesn’t seem to have done the trick. 13.5°. From spring 2015. 2020-21 JL Dec 2014

2011 ()

mature looking red robe; oily, pine needle aroma that is typical of its vineyard, the fruit is mulled, soaked, resembles strawberry, but there is also a definite note of acetate that jars. Has a sweet, peppered start, with a smoke ash finish. Severe, taut red fruit along the palate, and pine dryness on the aftertaste. ?From mid-late 2013? 14.5°. To 2017. Dec 2012

2010 ()

the robe is a plum red, with a matt tint. Pine lead air, grilling and varnish also present, rosemary herbs and meat gravy – a mixed bag. The palate has a carbonic gas, spritz note with a floral element in the flavour. It ends on tobacco, menthol and prune, with pine on the aftertaste. Not fully ensemble, though is bottled. I find an influence of the lees in this, and the fruit vacates on the finish for now. Decant this. From 2013. 13.5°. 2022-24 Dec 2011
