dark red; the bouquet gives a pleasing aroma of blackberry fruit with a near liqueur style thickness and a note of reduction from the Syrah, meaning a “high” air to the fruit. Decanting therefore helpful. The palate is well furnished with ample content, reflects the sun-filled vintage and its plump features. The tannins are well softened and in a good wheel of roundness. This is genuine Séguret with a vintage effect that is perfectly correct. 2023-24 July 2020

2015

dark red, good and shiny robe. The bouquet is nicely local, gives garrigue herbs, aniseed, black cherry fruit, blueberry. The fruit is up front – out it comes, all en rondeur and billowing. The palate has a salty freshness with good drive and flow. It is straightforward Séguret, is honest, rather hearty and grounded in style. The tannins could be a touch more refined. 15°. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. 6,000 b. Bottled June 2016. From 2017. 2021-22 Nov 2016

2014 ()

(vat) shiny dark red; springy, open nose that bears a wave of simmered black cherry fruit and licorice, all systems go. The palate is modern, streamlined, holds sleek, sweet-noted fruit with a note of crispness towards the finish, and good bustling tannins. Lots of fruit and vivacity, drink this early, on the up – it is w.o.w. wine. 14°. 65% Gren, 20% Syr, 15% Cari. From 2016. 2019-20  Apr 2015

dark red colour. The nose gives a roasted aroma, with a low-key fruit and a note of flowers, cut grass or hay. It is instantly peppery on the palate, bearing fruit that struggles to an extent with some strict, menthol-lined tannins. The style is cool, of the vintage, but the relative force of the tannins is a concern. 14.5°. 65% Gren, 25% Syr, 10% Cins. 10,000 b. From mid-2016.  2020-21  Apr 2015

shiny, dark red robe, inviting. There is a crunchy depth on the bouquet – good layers of black fruit and some mystery potential, with thyme and sage herbs inset, a game-style richness, a fundamental, red meat angle. This is good on the palate: it strikes a balance between enjoyable, fluid black fruit and tannins that enter the game right on cue to render the late moments more provocative and active – lightly grainy, darker moments there. Charged but under control wine, a polished, successful Séguret, whose finish needs to round – for now it ends a little fruit free. From mid-2014. 14.5°. 3,000 b. 60% Gren, 20% Syr, 20% Cari. 70% steel vat, 30% 228-litre oak cask raising 4 months. 2018-19  Oct 2013

2011

dark robe. Cassis, black cherry, sweet-noted display of fruit – the nose has a liquid, coulis style, is inviting. There is a pocket of grain and pebble behind the fruit. The palate is supple, gives a criss-cross of gushing black fruit. Its tannins add licorice and some “spark” to its later moments. Tasty wine, with definite tannic structure, has juice at its heart, a touch of mint on the end. 16°, obviously high, but it manages that. Bottled at Jonquières. To 2018. Oct 2012
