50-60% Grenache av age 50 yrs), 15-30% Syrah (1980s), 5-20% Mourvèdre (early 2000s), 0-10% Cinsault, 0-5% Carignan from clay-limestone soils, usually destemmed (not in 2005), 2-3 week vinification, part vat emptying/refillings the morning, pumping overs the evenings, 70% concrete vat raised, 30% 600-litre oak cask raised 12-15 months, unfined, filtered, 6,500-8,000 b


(concrete vat) full red robe; the bouquet is deep, has a savoury, lamb stock presence, some herbs such as rosemary with it. The palate is immediate, broad, bears a good filing of black cherry fruit with nicely wavy tannins, produces a neat line of mixed herbs and spice on the aftertaste. (vat/casks) quite a dark red. Smoke and dried herbs, licorice, garrigue influences show on the nose; the palate gives black toned fruits with a spot of oaking and its charcoal after the mid-point. Still in the cellar. Wait until spring 2018. 14°. 50% Gren, 30% Syr, 20% Mourv. 2022-23  May 2016

2010 ()

dark red robe, with a slight matt tint. Smoky, very ripe blackberry, bacon airs – a bouquet of a wine of the soil, the ground – it hangs with exotic Christmas spices and licorice. The palate fruit is fat, before it shows guts and drive on the second half, comes in a traditional style. It ends on lots of pepper, and there is cocoa, “darkness”, black raisin on the finish, which is rich. The aftertaste shows some salty tang. Authentic wine.
