100% Grenache (mid-1980s) from clay with plenty of limestone soils on South-South-West facing slopes,, destemmed, 30 day vinification with 2-3 daily cap punchings, at 90 gm/litre of residual sugar “mutage” or addition of alcohol at 96% is done, then a 10 day maceration follows, with ageing in used 228-litre oak casks 6-7 months, filtered, “drink with Roquefort cheese, strawberries in syrup, tarte or mousse of chocolate”, organic, biodynamic wine, 1,500 b of 50 cl


red robe, indeed Grenache. The nose is very tight, young, has an air of compactly piled up Morello cherries, with a raisin topping. It  is nicely full, even sturdy, nicely broad. There are also airs of black olives, tapenade. The palate is also very tight, locked up for now. The flavour involves grilling, dried black stone fruits, ending on some inner heat. It has a little channels of salty freshness. It is engaging and interesting, isn’t at all a vin sucré. It ends clear and up, with weight, is a real Child of the South. It has a proper structure, is squeezy but well directed. From spring 2017; time will expand the finish. 17°. 2033-35 June 2016
