60% Grenache, 20% Tempranillo, 20% Shiraz, all estate grown, simple crush, natural open ferment, aged French oak casks 16 months, lightly fined, filtered


dark red, magenta touches. Sweet jam, liqueur in the hot grape 2008 style, a hint of grapefruit in this. Plum jam, fragrant notes in the air here. The palate commences on red fruit that has some lining to hold it in and direct it. It moves along with a shimmer of mineral in the later stages, a McLaren Vale imprint that I find. Ends on licorice, and fresh rather than sweet or baked notes, good. Drink now to 2013 or so, since its fruit may fade. The Uncut Shiraz is big and muscled beside this. 15°. Oct 2009
