2016

full, dark red. The bouquet has a concentrated core of good, assertive black fruits, blueberry, licorice, notes of menthol. It holds well, has some black pepper crackle. The palate involves flavours of black olives, juicy and uplifted black fruits, with engaging tannins. There’s good life in this, and it ends on the go. Good pedigree fruit lies at its heart. The tannins need 15 to 18 months. It has a natural energy which appeals, has good life, iron in its veins, and steady length. 14.5°. 3,000 b. €8 export. 2027-28 Aug 2018

2015 ()

clear red robe. Blackberry fruit with a soft ease about it leads the nose, a first gentle evolution, some raspberry, red fruit also, cooked plums and a touch of dried herbs. The palate is spicy, and rolls well with puckish tannin adding zing and good cut. The aftertaste brings in spearmint and powdered herbs of Provence. This is good local lands wine. The fruit is commendably clear, with the tannins typical of 2015 – their breeze and dash. It’s wholesome, unpretentious, genuine Lirac; there’s good juicy fruit across the mid-palate. 14.5°. 2022-23 Apr 2018

2008

matt tone to its plum-black colour. This has a high, hang-dog aroma, the fruit left a long time on the vine, shows signs of rot, animal, also pepper. It is certainly a bouquet that gets a reaction, and represent something of an assault course, is challenging. The palate is peppery on the attack, has a supple texture, gourmand instincts, the flavour high. The style is fleshy, mature. The length is OK. Some late heat shows through. Drinks now. 14°. €15.20, not cheap. To 2015-16. 60% Gren, 40% Syr this year.  Dec 2009
