medium depth red robe. The nose gives an air of stewed black berry fruits, a slight “high” note from reduction. There is a violet sprinkle, indicating a prominent role from the Syrah. There is a hint of white pepper, and it has weight. Shiny blackberry crop is the image given. The palate starts softly, its content juicy, comes with a textured generosity. The tannins are barely discernible. This is spherical, shapely, “squelchy” Côtes du Rhône, turning on an ample wheel. The finish takes on a little extra depth from its tannins. The length is good, keeps going. Well made, polished. 13.5°. 2021-22 Aug 2017

dark robe. Smoked, bacon, black cherry airs in a nose of some substance, but it is also raw, shows some alcohol. The palate delivers gummy, “high” early fruit, then moves along well with a salty dash, ending on clear, minted notes. This drinks with some freedom, but drops a little after half way. 14°. 50,000 b. To 2017  Oct 2013

shiny dark red, legs. This has a ripe approach bouquet – shows date, prune aromas, a sense of autumn forest, damp leaves. The palate has a nice fat texture, an aromatic top note to its prune flavour, a little cocoa behind that. Modern, a bit arm’s length, but it has the depth for sauced meats, for instance. A little spice-tobacco appears on the aftertaste, with licorice. I’d like a bit more local impact. 14.5°. To 2017. 70% Gren, 15% Syr, 15% Cins this year. Dec 2012

2010 ()

shiny, dark plum red, legs. The nose is reticent, involves serene dark fruit, raspberry, has both potential and mystery. The palate offers black cherry, nice and liquid fruit that sails along the palate well. It ends roundly and well sustained on a more tarry note, all wholesome. This is from the softer end of the Côtes du Rhône range, with good 2010 filling. The exit is fresh, menthol-tinged. Has a little sweetness. This is good. 60,000 b. 14°. 50% Gren, 30% Syr, 20% Cins. To 2018  June 2013  Previously Feb 2012 ***(*) clear robe, a full red. Blackberry, light raspberry fruit aroma – the bouquet shows a restrained fullness, has some meaty depth, is not open. The palate displays handsome early fruit, the mid-palate is really tasty, with crisp late stages from its bright tannins. Good wine that is well together, and interesting. The palate gives more than the nose today. Its juiced length swings along freely and well. 14°. €5.35 at the cellars. Bottling in two months, April 2012. To 2017. Feb 2012
