2016

(casks) full colour, a dense dark red. The bouquet is set on a smoky, cordite style path, shiny black berry fruits present, a fair substance all round. The palate leads on a good wave of black berry fruit with good, tingling tannins adding pep to the second half, the finish good and clear. It’s wine of energy, holds the vintage freshness and appeal. This really rocks, has a great buzz about it, no holding back. The fruit suggests young vines (tasted blind). From spring 2020. 2031-32 Nov 2017 Previously Apr 2017 ***(*) Previously Apr 2017 ***(*) (cask) shiny dark red robe. This has a gently aromatic nose, its clarity suggestive of young vines. There are some red fruits, a plum intensity, here. It’s a rounded debut, gives airs of garden berry fruit, not bolder than that. The palate runs on fresh content with nerve in the tannins; it grips steadily on the close. The juice goes a fair way, but not all the way. It’s naked in style, a grippy wine, rather on its bare bones. I wouldn’t term it a wine of great consequence: that’s down to the youth of the vines.
