The Wines

100% Syrah (early 1980s) from granite & sandy soils at Chavanay & north of appellation, 3 week vinification in oak vat, wild yeasts, cap punching, concrete vat raised 16 months, unfined, filtered

2013 ()

(casks) quite a dark red. Clear, juicy nose of open appeal - lots of simmered black berries the image given. The light sweetness reappears in a measured, aromatic palate; it holds attractive raspberry fruit with some tannic tang, a note of cassis bud, as it finishes. There are cool notes through the palate, as if the source were granite. Charming. From mid-2016. 2023-25  Jan 2015

2012 ()

(casks) dark colour. A sunny ray of fat peeks out from the bouquet, the depth of sunshine and its ripe dark fruit with a note of roasting. The palate takes a tight grip; fluid black cherry fruit circulates with crunchy tannin in close attendance. It ends on a more rounded note than at any other time. Decant this, drink from late 2015. 2022-24  Nov 2013
