2016

(casks) shiny dark red colour. The nose has a dusty lands air, smoked bacon, grilling present. There is a discreet intensity in its raspberry fruit. The palate attacks well on gourmand fruit, generous raspberry flavours with lots of herbs and nudges of spice along its path. There’s a drum of intensity at its centre. It hits the line with some tangy tannins that add energy, and will fuse correctly. This is an STGT Vacqueyras, very true to its place and vintage. 60% Gren, 40% Syr. From spring 2020. 2031-33 Feb 2018

2015 ()

(casks) dark red robe. The nose is full, with both dark fruits and oak, so the latter brings in licorice and varnish. There is a blackberry centre. The palate bears robust content with crunched tannins and oak stretches. It’s firmly implanted in the cellar, the oak masking its grapes and its origins. There is sufficient gras to handle the oak, eventually, and the length is good. From 2020. 2028-30 March 2017

2014

(vat/casks) healthy looking dark red, some black tints. Licorice and blackberry fruit feature in a steadily filled bouquet, has the potential to unfurl and appeal in a stylish way. The palate rolls along gracefully, the fruit pure and aided late on by some fresh, well defined tannins. This has a good pedigree, and I like its balance and length. It captures the finer points of the vintage well. From mid-2017. 2022-24  Dec 2015

2013

deep purple colour. The nose is rich and concentrated, with a vanilla oak overlay. The palate is tight, firm and extracted, oak apparent. Has a slightly drying finish. This is modern in style and concept; it has the fruit, but is a touch over-worked. From 2017. 2022-23 JL Dec 2014

2010

healthy dark red robe, some advance, is typical Grenache. The nose is wide, supple, has grilled, smoky and roasted airs – there is lots here, including thyme and mixed herbs. The garrigue really shines out here – it is a very good bouquet. The palate declares its black fruit very well, has a blackberry richness and a good, ripe integration of its tannins that lend it a more sweet, rather treacle late gras richness. Wide and consistent, persistent, stylish wine; it has class, balance, menthol touches, is STGT. Good VALUE at €14. 14.5°. 2026-28  May 2013
