2016 ()

(casks) mottled dark red robe. The nose leads on oak varnish, inky airs, the red fruit subdued, some licorice apparent. The palate is a mix of oak and modest richness, is rather mainstream, in the cellar, a constructed event from this medium weight vintage. I would like more convincing richness to be confident about its future. A simple, pure wine with no oak or only well used oak might have been an option to take here. From late 2018. 2022-23 Nov 2017

2015 ()

(casks) dark colour, a full red. Oak-varnish leads the nose, with an inlay of compact black cherry fruit, and black pepper touches. It’s a bouquet with potential, is a good ensemble in the making. The palate holds delightful, stylish black fruit, travels along effortlessly. The tannins add a well-judged ping of darkness. This will be stimulating and interesting. The length is fresh, the balance successful, and the fruit quality pure. From 2018. 2025-26 Oct 2016

2010 ()

sound red; acetate first air, bit stretched black cherry aroma – the nose lacks roundness, is distant. Pal is tight, not yet giving. This holds modern, full extraction style cherry fruit, but is low on charm. Taut finale, dry acidity, which was noted seven months ago pre-bottling. To 2016-17  June 2012  Previously Nov 2011 *** (casks) dark with black tints. Wide, clear nose with good strike and cut in the fruit, has potential, shows green pepper and spice, almost a curry air and a bit of licorice. The palate sets off with drive, its black fruit infused with crisp tannins that add energy and snap. Acidity is a bit prominent for now, and it thins down towards the finish. The grapes have been ripely cropped, though. Bottling spring 2012. From 2013 - time will help. 2018-19 Nov 2011

2007

bright red-black robe; restrained, cherry fruit aroma, a hint of cherry jam and a slight game air along with traces of oak. The palate gives low-key fruit, dips at mid-way, before a rebound of some energy late on. Red fruits lie at its heart, the length is decent and a little late rasp or burn needsnine9 months to sort out. To 2014. Dec 2008

2003

ripe fruit mixed with oak on nose, grilled effect. Good early juice on start of palate, cherry flavour. International style wine, oak takes over on finish. Leave till 2007 to absorb the oak, but has content to move along with. March 2005
