The Wines

50% Grenache, 50% Syrah from galet stone clay-limestone soils, 3 day pre fermentation cool maceration, destemmed, 8-12 day vinification, cap punching, pumping overs, part vat emptying and refilling, vat raised 12-15 months, filtered, “drink with charcuterie & picnics”, 50,000 b

steady, rather dark red; the bouquet holds raspberry fruit, with a note of cool iodine, a little sharp directness, suggestive that it has just been bottled. The palate runs with red fruits that have some smoky attachments, red cherries and redcurrants, a nice simplicity in the fruit that makes it easy to capture. This is straightforward, sound Côtes for grilled foods. 14°. To 2022 Mar 2019

(vat) shiny red robe. Raspberry and smoky, ash of cigarette airs mingle on the nose; the palate gives red berry fruit with quiet tannins. Not as bouncy, nor as profound as some 2015s, but a pretty jolly wine all the same. 14°. 50,000 b. 50% Gren, 50% Syr. From 2017. 2020-21 June 2016

(vat) fairly full red; the nose is discreet for now, but quietly deep; there is a little taint in its cooked plum air. There is enjoyable, free running fruit along the palate; this does exactly what a Côtes du Rhône should – it is drinkable, with plentiful fruit. From mid-2014. To 2017 Tasted despite the taint, on the grounds that the core of the wine is discernible. €3.72 export.  Oct 2013
