dark red colour; the nose is on reduction, broods in the glass, the slight animal side from then Mourvèdre – decanting much advised. There is a firm inlay of black cherry fruit. The palate bears good depth of gras, has a mulberry fruit flavour, holds well in the mid-palate, and extends into some more fluid juice and pebbly tannin on the finish. This is a good example of Sablet - I like its steady depth. 14°. 2024-25 Oct 2019

2014

dark red robe, lighter rim. The nose has depth, is spiced, lies low, has some Sablet sweet appeal, a soaked style to the red fruits. The palate drinks in the zone now, has fleshy virtues, squeezy content, involves strawberry flavours with a dusting of spice late on. The finish is just a mite dry, pinched, but stews and sauced dishes will take care of that. To 2022 Mar 2019

(vat/barrel) shiny red-purple colour; the bouquet shows sustained depth and casts a little trail of mystery, while a clean, rather swish dark cherry fruit lingers. The palate sets off well, bears flashy dark fruit, is pretty exuberant, takes on more weight, depth, and amplifies on its late stages. Good, regular drinking in prospect, with a degree of charm. It finishes on a calm, compact note. 14°. From 2015. €5.22 export, very fair. 2019-20  Oct 2013

2011

sober, quite dark red robe. The bouquet has a savoury nature, gives a plum and lightly floral aroma. This sits well in the glass: the fruit is true Grenache in its quiet fat, and the spicing isn’t overdone. It finishes with a run of raspberry, licorice and some still punchy tannins, though these are fluid. 14.5°. €11. 20,000 b. To 2018  Jun 2015

2010

shiny, dark robe. Has a broad, blackberry first air in a nose of rather sweet heart, has a ripe richness. Sweet, thick red jam airs follow. The palate rolls on a tide of blackberry, the fruit supple and juicy. There are a few darker moments from its slightly crunchy tannins. The freshness on the nose repeats on the later stages. It will be a touch more together from mid-2013. It has an easy texture that allows attractive drinking with grills, for instance, even if the fruit and the matter could be a shade deeper. 14°. fair depth of red. Earthy, peppery, bacon smoke nose, has local restraint and will be nicely varied. The palate is also local – it builds up a juicy middle after a cautious start. Stylish, very clear fruit, a suave texture, long wine. Esp 2006 on. 2012-13 Sept 2005

mid-plus depth in the red robe. Has a good, nicely typical bouquet, though it is slightly “foxy”, some reduction here, which isn’t a problem for me. This has been made by maceration carbonique. The fruit and the style on the palate are lean and fine rather than robust, punchy. It has fair grip, and the structure is pretty decent. Good, and typical as well. GB£6.45. To 1999 July 1995
