The Wines

70% Roussanne, 30% Grenache blanc & Clairette, 50% 3-year oak cask, 50% 4-5 year oak cask fermented, raised 8 months

pretty, mild yellow robe; beeswax, honey, high tone aromas with an oak-vanilla-pineapple mix, also peach, white flowers that are more gentle. Rather a glutinous palate – this is a “full” wine that is rather clumping, as if the grapes were late picked. The oak runs right through it. Has a solid composition, is unyielding, is an international wine. Roussanne is apparent, but it simply doesn`t portray a faithful sense of place. 2015-17 Nov 2008

very toasted aroma, with a buttery coating behind, and a few baked pebbles. Is rather one-dimensional in the variety stakes. Oak is the main theme of the palate; has some richness but is squeezed from cellar handling. Is full of human effort, very man made. The oak on the finish renders it dry. Potent aftertaste, alcohol there. July 2007
