quite a dark red; the bouquet is broad, carries low-key, firm intensity, an aroma that mixes black olives with black berry jam. It’s a sure, sturdy opening. The palate is well enveloped with compact richness, good heart, has a prolonged, pretty intense finish with the content resolute all the way. This is a structured Cairanne, with the throb of the warm lands in its tight make-up. There is an outbreak of rushing juice for a moment in the mid-palate, which augurs well for the future. It’s a thorough, full-bodied wine for red meat dishes, game, too. 15°. 4,000 b. 85% Gren, 15% Carignan. €18 at the cellars. From 2022, decant it. 2031-33 Sept 2020

dark red; the bouquet is still forming, has a low-key trail of blackberry fruit, a note of grilling, cooked plums. It’s very sure and will flourish well, and stylishly. The palate is a savoury, rounded affair, bears plump content with a really sustained length, a flourish of content on the close, stone fruits and prunes there. This is good and thorough, genuine, real STGT Cairanne, capturing place and vintage well. It builds impressively along the palate. 15.5°. From 2020. 2034-36 Mar 2019

plum red robe. Mulled fruits, mulberry with raspberry, settle in a sweet-noted, chunky nose that has a confident, assured depth. This attacks firmly, with fresh tannin through it; Red cherry and raspberry lie at its centre. It goes quite long via its inner strength. The Carignan brings added frame and a firm shape to the late moments. It is a most willing partner for chuck steak beef hamburgers. It ends fully, almost crunchily, and the degree is most evident on the aftertaste. 15.5°. €8 export. 2021-22 Aug 2016 Previously Apr 2015 ***(*) (casks) dark robe, all the way up. Smoky, licorice-bearing aroma, with cool black fruit, blueberry at its centre. There is a little gas on the palate, which runs very well, holds lots of flowing fruit, is tasty and clear at the same time. This is a bright 2014 Cairanne with enough body to do well over 4-5 years. Its tannins aid the depth and life on the finish. Very good. From spring 2016. 2021-22 Apr 2015
