60% Grenache, 15% Carignan, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Clairette blanche from 6 hectares on sandy-clay soils at Carpentras on the Mazan boundary, vineyards average age 35 years, hand harvested variety by variety, destemmed, 8-12 day vinification at 26°C, wild yeasts, Carignan vinified by macération carbonique, Grenache not crushed, fermentation at 22°C-26°C to capture primary aromas and create a wine to assuage thirst, daily pumping overs, 2 part vat emptying/refillings, vat raised 6 months, unfined, filtered, 30,000 b

2015

red robe with a nice sheen. Has a peppery, clear bouquet, with a coil of red fruits at its centre, a little toffee sweetness, dried herbs, iron oxide. The attack is grainy, lithe; this has captured the firm freshness of the year, and ends crisply, with cut and tang. The flavour centres of raspberry and plum fruit near the stone. 2014

bottled one month ago: level red robe ; has a peppery, upfront nose, a gentle strawberry aroma behind that – it is all good and lucid. The palate expresses pepper, decisive red fruit with a squeeze of gourmandise as it goes towards the finish. The length is sound. This is nice and drinkable right away. There is an appealing mid-palate gras moment. 12.5°. €5.90, fair. To 2017  Apr 2015

2009

rather bold dark red, black at its centre. Grilled, smoky, blackberry aroma which has volume. A brioche, rather meaty filling features below, along with ripe, black raisin notes. Use of properly ripened crop here- a domaine with experience, not a neophyte. This is an inky form of Ventoux; it has a blackberry flavour with a little sweetness that resembles fruit pastilles, also licorice. It ends on a direct, clear note. It is strutting its youth now, close to a second stage, a mature stretch starting to come into view. It is rounded on the finish, where there is a slight dust in the tannins that would have been more evident earlier in its life. Very good, very steady, very solid Ventoux – it is pretty wholesome, and suited to dishes such as stews. 13°. 2015-16  June 2012
