quite a dark red. The nose has red cherry airs with licorice, garrigue, mixed herbs, gorse flowers, and a saline inkiness, iodine. It is quite directly channelled for now. The palate gives crisp fruit, raspberry, with a stream of cool tannins giving it movement and length. The juice will emerge, and titillates with a clear stream in places for now. This garrigue, true wine. It broadens well as it goes. 14°. From mid-2017. 2024-25 Nov 2016 2016 GB £142 12 b in bond H2Vin www.h2vin.co.uk info@h2vin.co.uk +44(0)203 478 7376

2011

Warning: Oct 2012: 2 bottles tasted blind in Avignon – 1st bottle shows reduction, acetate, a scorched air. 2nd bottle: reduction, pong, lees, fermentation notes, big disorder. Previously March 2012 *** full, clear red robe; has an easy air of red fruit with a low key sweetness and a suggestion of toffee and licorice. The palate tastes of red stone fruits jam, has a gummy texture, is not yet “in the clear”, has southern ripeness squeezed into its frame. It needs 18-24 months to open and breeze out. The exit is rounded, has that slight gummy texture again. 14.5°. 2020-22 March 2012

bright purple robe. Peppery, reductive nose, shows genuine Grenache fruit, good depth and access. Vibrant red fruit lead on the palate, runs directly, is tight, a touch “on the steel”, restrained like a horse. It fans out attractively at the end. It drinks now, expands as it goes. Very clear, another w.o.w. wine. It gives the drinker an open door to good, primary vat fruit. “It is practically ready to drink”, Michèle A-L. 14°. 2012-13. only 6,000 b this year Nov 2009

2007 ()

full red robe. Wide, gently replete nose containing red cherry fruit, licorice, a bit of wet stone like mica after rain. The palate has definite purpose – a tight assembly of scented red cherry fruit with underlying tannin and rather chewy content. It is solid and sturdy in the final stage, without excess or being overdone. The tannins need two years. From mid 2011. 14°. 2019-20 Nov 2009

quite deep purple that is evolving at the top. Wide, open bouquet – ripe cherry aroma with a liqueur/eau de vie cross, has good depth. The palate lives on a “steely” encasing of tannin and also a nerve of alcohol towards the finish. Solid wine with a quite smooth outer surface texture. The fruit recedes at the finish at first, then after 1 hour, it starts to re-ferment, has a leesy aftertaste. Was delivered here in Sussex today from Shropshire, and has not survived the shaking up and travel. 14°. £15.60 from Tanners. Dec 2009
