2015 ()

Victoria plum red robe with a slightly lighter top. The nose offers a cool aroma that mixes menthol, some sweet red stone fruits, a husky side air, baked lands as it were. The palate starts with some freedom via a spiced, dark fruited content, ending on a push of tarred tannin in a nice and complete, chunky finish. There is an inner tightness here, the shape upright and reserved for now, with some concentration in the fruit. 2012 ()

(vat) dark plum red robe. Notably cool, licorice fused black fruits air, a crisp blueberry present. The palate’s fruit is streamlined and agreeably supple on the start, has a liqueur style texture. A small pocket of late tannin appears, a prelude to a round, pretty full sign-off. An appealing wee line of saltiness runs through the fruit. (vat) dark red. Has an air of small red cherries, soaked cherries or griottes, shows a lightly floral scenting – this is a rather smooth, round bouquet. The palate starts on spice, then brisk, possibly brittle tannins run in bumps along it. The finish tastes of pine needle, treacle, mocha. This needs 15 months to become more together. Power here is evident under the surface. There is a bitter note towards the finish. 14.5°. 70,000 b. 2017-18  Oct 2012
